TransferLab „Artificial Intelligence in Construction"

04.08.2022

Transferlab2

From August 22 to September 11, 2022, together with the BIMKIT project, we will be providing information in downtown Bochum about the possibilities that artificial intelligence (AI) offers for the construction industry.

Our scientists will show various demonstrators on the topics of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) live in the Blue Square experience space at Ruhr-Universität Bochum to inform about current research and to engage in conversation with interested parties.

With the TransferLab, we want to inform all interested citizens about our research topics, show you which future-oriented technologies are being developed here in Bochum and enter into dialog with you. At our opening ceremony on August 25, 2022, from 15:00 to 17:00, we cordially invite all interested parties to try out the demonstrators and learn more about the exciting potentials of AI for the construction industry. You will be welcomed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Markus König, holder of the Chair of Computer Science in Civil Engineering at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the RUB, and Marc Seelbach, Head of the Department for Transfer & Entrepreneurship in the Department for University Development and Strategy at the RUB and Belén Daza, Department of University Communication at the RUB.

What is already possible today?

On site, the scientists will use demonstrators to provide a vivid insight into the BIM method and the use of AI in construction. Using real-world examples such as the detection of construction machinery, fire protection elements or cracks, they will show how AI can be used to recognize elements in images and explain what added value this offers.

In addition to the demonstrations, there will be a poster exhibition and various events, such as "Meet the Scientist" afternoons, where the developers of the demonstrators will be available to answer questions, as well as visits from RUBy, our robot dog.
