On 03.06.2024, Minister Ina Scharrenbach handed the funding decision for the “BIM-based building application” research project to Prof. Dr. Markus König.

The BIM-based building application enables a fully digital process from planning to approval by the building authorities. The project aims to make the building application process more efficient by using a digital BIM model of the planned building as the basis for the application. Under the motto “BIM is WIN - The future of digital planning and construction is taking place in North Rhine-Westphalia”, Ms. Scharrenbach hands the grant to Prof. Dr. Markus König. This project is being tested and evaluated in collaboration with municipalities. The city of Bochum (represented in the photo by mayor Thomas Eiskirch), as well as the cities of Herne, Essen, Münster, Cologne and Düsseldorf (requested) are involved in the project for the evaluation. Funding is provided by the Ministry of Regional Identity, Communities and Local Government, Building and Digitalization of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and is headed by Prof. Dr. Markus König, holder of the Chair of Computing in Engineering at Ruhr University Bochum.
