Mechanized Tunneling

In this field of research we utilize sensor data gathered from tunnel boring machines (TBMs) during construction. Our goal is to leverage machine learning and deep learning algorithms to gain valuable insights into the operations of mechanized tunneling projects.

Our primary objective is to develop precise predictions for the advancing speed of TBMs in the upcoming tunneling cycles. In our future work, we will focus on two key areas. Firstly, we aim to create an advanced algorithm capable of accurately forecasting the TBM's speed over multiple tunneling cycles. Secondly, we will harness the power of machine learning to proactively identify downtimes of the TBM by analyzing large datasets.

Through our research, we strive to provide valuable insights and practical solutions for the construction industry. Our aim is to optimize project performance and resource management, ultimately contributing to the industry's efficiency and success.
