Since July 1st, Arne has been our newest member of the chair as a research assistant!
Arne studied civil engineering at TU Berlin, first in his bachelor’s and later in his master’s degree with a focus on Systems Engineering and Computer Science in Construction. While working as a student assistant in a DFG-funded research project, he wrote his master’s thesis on the geometric and topological modelling of building models. During his master’s studies, he also began to work on ontologies. After completing his master’s degree, he worked as a computational engineer for four and a half years, where he gained valuable practical experience. His work focused mainly on parametric modelling, for example with Grasshopper and Dynamo, as well as on interface programming, especially for FEM software.
Over time, it became increasingly clear that the opportunities for further development in that environment did not fully match the topics he wanted to work on more intensively. This eventually led him to Bochum, where he is now working as a research assistant in the ZIRKULAR-X project. Within ZIRKULAR-X, Arne will work on ontologies and their development and application. One of the main questions he will focus on is how ontologies can be used to structure, link, and make relevant information usable for Digital Product Passports.
We are delighted to have Arne on our team and look forward to working with him in ZIRKULAR-X and beyond.
