DIDYMOS

Digitization and optimization of road tunnel operations through AI-supported reconstruction of digital twins

As part of the DIDYMOS research project, new strategies for the creation of digital twins for existing tunnels in the road network are being developed, for which scalable and innovative processes for the digitization of existing documents are required. In this context, clear information requirements are defined for digital twins for tunnel structures with a focus on operating and maintenance processes. Concepts are also being developed to define the geometric and semantic structure of digital twins.

The extraction of relevant information for the actual construction of digital twins is then carried out using AI methods to ensure an efficient and automated process. Further project goals are the creation of digital interfaces and update concepts for the integration of current condition data with existing data models, the development of intuitive interaction and visualization concepts for digital twins in tunnel management, and the development of concrete recommendations for operation and maintenance strategies based on the digital twins.
